DOREEN JOYCE SYKES 1940 - 2013 On Monday, September 30, her battle with Cancer ended. Cremation and private ceremony have taken place. Besides her husband David, she is survived by sons Robert (Terri), Allan (Sandy), grandchildren Jennifer (mother Debra), Christin, Owen and David. She also leaves her sister Bernice, brothers Ron and Gary. Doreen was predeceased by her brother Dave and sister Mary, as well as her mother and father Julia and Bill. Doreen was born in Winnipeg, MB April 12, 1940 and lived there all her life, where she met and married her husband David. She retired from Seven Oaks Hospital early to snowbird in Texas and other locations. She would create and sell many beautiful crafts over the years. Summers were spent at the cottage in Lac Du Bonnet both before and after retirement, where she made many close friends. She loved to walk at the cottage and at home in Country West Village. Doreen was always available to listen and would try to help with any problems others may have. Her energy was boundless and she always looked forward to each and every day with her beloved husband David at her side, as he was when she passed. Our heartfelt thanks go to the staff of ward 3E for their understanding, care and kindness.
