MARIA (MARY) POHORILY (nee RAUBER) 1923 - 2013 Peacefully, on October 13, 2013, mom passed away at Grace Hospital. Born in Eggerding, Austria in 1923, the eldest of seven children, Maria immigrated to Canada in the 1950s to begin a new life after the Second World War and settled in St. Andrews, Manitoba to raise her family. Aside from working in her home and on the farm and caring for her children, she held jobs as a sewing machine operator in Winnipeg, as well as working at the Selkirk Mental Health Hospital, and then at a shoe factory in Winnipeg. Mom enjoyed her garden and was fond of her flowers, raspberries, potatoes and tomatoes and would frequently be found watering and tending to her plants. Everything she did revolved around her children and grandchildren and she generously gave her nurturing love and support to them. She was a kind and gentle mother/grandmother and we were blessed to have her in our lives for so many years. Left to mourn her passing are her loving son Michael (Kim), Peter (Rose), and her grandchildren: Elise, Ben, Tom and Karl. Funeral service will be held Monday, October 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Interment and reception will follow. "Grandma, words cannot describe how incredibly much we will miss you. We thank you for everything you brought into our lives and look forward to seeing you again." The family would like to extend our thanks to Calvary Place Personal Care Home and their staff for the dedicated and compassionate care. Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery 338-7111
