Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERIC PANCHYSHYN Eric passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre on October 8, 2013 at age 82. Eric was born in Brooksby, Saskatchewan, on September 24, 1931. He is survived by his children Derek (Annette), Paul (Julia), and Jody; his grandchildren Janis, Claire, Kate, Ashton and Sydney; and his siblings Beatrice, Nettie, Adam and Joe. Eric was predeceased by his parents John and Annie (Handzuk), brothers Metro, Peter, Andrew, Frank and his sister Jean. He went to high school in Saskatoon and eventually moved to Toronto to work for CN. Eric worked at CN for most of his adult life, a job that took the family from Toronto to Dawson Creek, then to Saskatoon, and finally to Winnipeg. He retired from CNCP Telecommunications in 1988, and then went on to work for many years as a greens keeper at the St. Charles Golf Course in Winnipeg. Dad loved curling and golf, and later in life he developed a love of travel, finally returning to Cuba, post revolution, in the early 2000s. In the 1990s, dad volunteered for several international development projects, first in Mexico and then two in Kingston, Jamaica, where he also exported the Macarena, much to the chagrin of Jamaican music lovers everywhere. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Deer Lodge and Riverview Health Centre for providing dad with the highest level of care. In lieu of a funeral, dad's ashes will be spread on the site of the family homestead in Brooksby, Saskatchewan, where he will forever remain. Donations can be made in Eric's memory to Jamaican Self-Help, a Peterborough, Ontario-based charity that promotes the empowerment of youth in inner-city Kingston, Jamaica, through education and community development. http://www.jshcanada.org/main LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements, 204-775-2220.

I worked with Eric from 2012-2013. He was a great man with a wonderful sense of humor. I loved to hear him laugh. He was such a great addition to our exercise classes. I will miss his smile and his gentleness. - Posted by: Kara (Rehab Assistant @ RHC) on: Oct 21, 2013
