JOHN THOMAS BERRY John Thomas Berry, aged 87, of Winnipeg, passed away peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital on Thursday, October 17, 2013. He was born on the family farm near Manitou, Manitoba on May 24, 1926, one of a family of six. In 1944 he joined the RCAF and was posted to British Columbia to patrol the coast. Many of his war stories later made their way into grand children's school projects. After the war, John attended the University of Manitoba, graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering. In 1949, he married Anne Kelly and they made their family home in River Heights and Fort Richmond. He pursued his engineering career throughout Manitoba, working for Underwood Mcllellan and later on managing many large projects including the building of Leaf Rapids, Winnipeg Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Bishop Grandin extension. John was a proud family man. Many of his fondest times were spent at the family cottage he built in Falcon Lake. He was predeceased by his first wife Anne and his second wife Asa, as well as son- in- law Kerry Baker and three brothers; Bill, Jim, and Don. John is survived and will be missed by Pat and Betty Jean Berry (Duncan and Andrew) , Tom and Nancy Berry (Michael and Jonathan), Joanne and Dave Maguire (Kristin and Buddy, Andrea, Greg and Sarah, Heather), Jamie and Ella Berry (Jaclyn and Valerie), and Barbara Baker (Sean and Holly, Kate). John is also survived by four great-grandchildren (Tea, Jaxon, Griffin and Wren) and two sisters, Dulcie and Barbara. Many thanks to the doctors and nurses at St. Boniface Hospital for their care and attention. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society 193 Sherbrook Street Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7. "Say not in grief that he is no more__ but live in thankfulness that he was."
