SUSAN SCOTT (nee DESMARAIS) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Susan Lynn Scott, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Surrounded by her loving family, Susan passed away at St. Boniface Hospital October 18, 2013. Left to cherish her memory are Susan's husband, Claude and three sons, Kevin (Reagan), Tyler and Colin (Janique); and her grandchildren Spencer, Alexandra and Benjamin, and Tehya and Riel. Predeceased by her mother Isabel Desmarais and survived by her mother-in-law Mary Scott, and great aunt Molly Scott, elder brothers Ralph (Sarah) and Alan (Gisele), brother-in-law Clint Scott (Lorna), sister-in-law Bea Heard; nieces and nephews, Ellie and Rebecca, Robert (Douglas) and Jackie (Yannick), Shelley (Chris), and Cheryl (Kris). Born in Winnipeg May 22, 1952 Susan married the love of her life January 23, 1971. Susan loved spending time at the cottage with Claude. They enjoyed vacationing abroad and road trips across the country. She spent many hours gardening, woodworking, walking, entertaining and planning a delicious spread for her guests. Susan also loved to golf with her husband, close friends, and in her women's league. Active in her grandchildren's lives, Susan eagerly awaited their next soccer game, dance class, riding lesson or whatever it may be, she was there for each of them. Susan was an amazing cook; she made the best homemade buns, pot pies, cupcakes, apple pancakes, blueberry cheesecake and bierock. Susan treasured family gatherings and time spent with her many dear friends. For the last three years, she spent her winters in Palm Springs, enjoying retirement just as she and Claude dreamed of. Susan worked 30 dedicated years for the Legislative Assembly and retired as the Director of Member Services, a career she took much pride in. Susan will be remembered for her supportive and encouraging nature. Susan lived life to the fullest and personified selflessness. She was a very loving, compassionate and beautiful woman who will live on the in the hearts of those who knew her and will be profoundly missed by all. The family would like to extend their very sincere thanks to the staff of the Concordia and St. Boniface Hospitals for their care and compassion. In accordance with Susan's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy # 1 East at Navin Road, Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, for those wishing to do so, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB. R3T 0R3 or to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
