SISTER REJEANNE COUTURE (SISTER CECILE ANNA) It is with great sadness that we, Filles de la Croix announce the passing of our dear sister Réjeanne Couture (Cécile Anna) on October 21, 2013 at the age of 94, in her 73rd year of religious life. She leaves to mourn her sister Rolande Bertrand, her brother-in-law-Hector Ruest, her many nephews and nieces and her sisters, the Filles de la Croix. She was predeceased by her parents, J. Ludger Couture and Rose-Anna Lacasse, her two brothers, and her five sisters. Réjeanne was born on December 5, 1918 in Ferland, Saskatchewan. She attended Ferland and Laflèche schools before beginning her religious formation at La Puye, France in 1938. After pronouncing her vows she spent seven years teaching English in Igon, France. In 1947, she returned to Canada to attend Normal School. She graduated with a B.A in 1957 and a B. Ped. in 1964. Sister Réjeanne devoted her time and talents teaching children in Saint Adolphe, MB, Saint Gérard, QC, Sherbrook, QC, Saint Claude, MB and Rainy River, ON. She took her mission of praying, teaching and rendering services very seriously. Perfection was her goal and her motto seemed to be "All that is worth doing, is worth doing well". In 1963, she was called back to Europe and spent the next six years doing private tutoring in Rome. Réjeanne's many hobbies included reading, music, songs and word puzzles. We will remember her for her joy, laughter, discretion, compassion, prayerful presence and profound faith. Her prayer times were the highlights of her day. Although far away for many years, Réjeanne developed a strong and lasting bond with her family. The Sisters and the family wish to thank the Staff of Actionmarguerite (Saint Vital) for the loving care given to Sister Réjeanne during her last seven years. The funeral mass will be celebrated in the Chapel of Villa Aulneau at 601 Aulneau Street in Saint Boniface on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. The interment will follow in the Saint Adolphe Parish Cemetery. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements (204) 775-2220.
