AUGUST KULIKOWSKI May 28, 1923 - October 21, 2013 The family of August Kulikowski are saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather on Monday, October 21, 2013 at Pinawa Hospital, with his family by his side. August was born on May 28, 1923 to Adam and Anna Kulikowsky. He is survived by his children David, Diane (David) and Jim (Joanne), 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren as well as Alice, the mother of his children. He is also survived by his sister Emma and dear friend Audrey. He was predeceased by his parents Adam and Anna, three brothers Carl, John and George, three sisters Lucy, Selma and Wilma and his second wife Helen. August spent his life farming on the land homesteaded by his parents. Even after moving to Lac du Bonnet, he went out to the farm every day-a labour of love for the way of life and the land. Always busy, August did many things in his life. He created a subdivision, clearing land, building roads and building cabins. He was a councillor for Ward IV of the LGD of Alexander. He always made time for the things he enjoyed, such as hunting (about which many stories were told), gardening (he usually had the first ripe tomato of the season), picking mushrooms and berries, and especially visiting with family and friends. The door was always open, the glasses always full. He will be missed. The family would like to thank the wonderful caring staff at Pinawa Hospital. You are angels. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 26 at Lutheran Church of the Cross, Lac du Bonnet, MB with interment to follow in the Lac du Bonnet Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Flowers are gratefully declined. If you so wish, please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. • We are truly saddened to hear about August's passing and want to offer our most sincere condolences to all his family and his dear friend Audrey. We met August in 1975 and bought the first lot in his subdivision. We developed a lasting wonderful relationship with August. August embraced life and work to the fullest. He enjoyed hard work and enjoyed satisfaction with his accomplishments. He was a generous man and consciously made sure he offered a fair deal to his lot owners and renters believing they all deserved a fair shake and something that was affordable. Robust as he was in his hay day, he could be the gentlest person with little children. Our lives would have had a deep void had we not had August as a friend. Truly August was a remarkable man and we will always cherish the many wonderful memories of time spent with him. May he rest in peace! - Posted by: Jeannette, Ron & Joe Kostenuik (Friends) on: Oct 24, 2013
