GREG RENTZ It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Greg Rentz on October 23, 2013 at age 51. Greg will be greatly missed by his wife Leslie, his parents Ron and Joan, big brother Jeff (Kelly), nephew Robert and nieces Natalie and Morgan, in-laws Ruth Spicer and Craig and Yvette Spicer, as well as many friends and family. Greg grew up in Fort Garry, attending General Byng Elementary and Vincent Massey Collegiate, before pursuing a commerce degree at University of Manitoba. Greg's study of accounting led to his CGA designation, and a long successful career with Canada Revenue Agency. It was while completing his degree that Greg met, by chance, Leslie. Together they shared a joyful 23 year marriage, a true partnership. A lifelong athlete and sports fan, Greg enjoyed curling and especially softball, particularly his league play and the CRA tournaments. He loved fishing and camping with family and friends. He and Leslie were passionate about travelling Canada, especially the east coast and Ontario's wine region. At home, Greg was an enthusiastic cook and oenophile. Many hours were spent playing with Scout in the garden and walking the city's trails. Later in life, Greg discovered a new passion - a motorcycle that provided a jolt of pure fun when it was needed most. He was a man who enjoyed the good life! A sincere thank you to St. Boniface CancerCare and Palliative care units. A memorial service to honour Greg will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Tuesday, October 29, at 2:00 p.m., reception to follow. Flowers are declined. Donations to CPAWS, Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, Manitoba Chapter, or the Winnipeg Humane Society are encouraged. We never knew Greg or Leslie but I had worked with Jeff and have known Ron for almost 50 years. If Greg was anything like his father and brother he would have been a great guy. The saying goes that the good die young but 51 is a little too young. Our condolences go out to Leslie, Ron and Joan, Jeff and Kelly and their families - Posted by: Denis and Lulu ROBERT (Friends of the family) on: Nov 04, 2013

The Late Jackie Robinson said "A life is not important, except for the impact it has on other lives." Greg and I worked together in Appeals. Through mutual acquaintances I was told how he was dealing with his issues. This helped me deal with mine [ovarian cancer]. Without his realizing it, he had an impact on my life. To his wife, Leslie, and his family, Burle and I are so sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Vivian Maybroda & Burle Silverman (Work Collegues) on: Oct 27, 2013

My condolences to Leslie and his and her family. Greg will be sorely missed and affected me in many positive ways, both in my professional and personal life. I feel fortunate to have known him and played many, many games of softball with him. I will never forget our baseball trip to Halifax, we had a great time. He taught me the meaning of perseverance and I will be forever saddened by his passing. - Posted by: Dwight Zacharias (Friend) on: Oct 26, 2013
