EBONY-ROSE SIMMONDS-SASSEVILLE June 15, 1984 - October 26, 2013 It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our little angel, Ebony-Rose, at the age of 29, after a three year battle with cancer. Ebony was born in Calgary, Alberta and in 1989 moved to Winnipeg with her family. She attended Mulvey Elementary School and Gordon Bell High School where she graduated with honours in 2002. While attending school, she began working at McDonalds. She later had the opportunity to work in Fort McMurray for four years. On her return to Winnipeg, she became restaurant manager of her own store on Erin Street. She is survived and greatly missed by her loving husband Riley, mom Nelly (Lena), father Craig and brother Robbie, and many close friends and other relatives that are too numerous to name. Because of her contagious smile and friendly personality, it was easy for everyone who met her to fall in love with her. We would like to give special thanks to Dr. Paul Daeninck, Dr. Clifford Yaffe, the nursing staff at CancerCare and the special nurses on 7A West at St. Boniface Hospital for their extraordinary compassionate care they gave to our Ebony. In celebration of Ebony's life, a service will be held Friday, November 1 at St. Ignatius Church on 255 Stafford Street at 1:00 p.m. followed by a reception in the church's lower level. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Ebony's name can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E 0V9. You will always be loved and forever missed, our little angel in heaven. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

  • When is it supposed to stop hurting... - Posted by: Robert Simmonds (Brother) on: Apr 11, 2019

  • I just found out yesterday that Ebony passed away. I can’t stop crying. I’ve worked with her in Fort McMurray in 2009 in McDonald’s at Walmart location. She was one of the nicest, kindest and friendliest person I’ve met in my life. She hired me for my first job in Canada. Always gave me a ride home when she had a chance. We had a very nice chats together. God, she was so polite, true Canadian. It’s so sad I found out about her death 5 years after. Parents got to be so proud they raised such daughter. I can’t believe it. Life is so unfair… Cried my eyes out. I always will be remembering her. - Posted by: Dmitry Sorokin (Friend, co-worker) on: Sep 16, 2018
