HILDA BERTHA BITTNER November 3, 1928 - October 30, 2013 It is with saddened hearts that we announce Hilda passed away peacefully at the Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg on October 30, 2013, four days before her 85th birthday. Hilda Bertha Bittner (nee Gall) was born November 3, 1928 in Green Valley, Wisconsin, the daughter of Robert and Elsa (nee Hirsch) Gall. The family moved to Canada and started farming in the Moosehorn (Bayton) Area in 1930. She attended Bayton School. On June 20, 1947 she married Ewald (Walter) Bittner. They farmed in Birch Bay where they raised four boys. In 1987 they moved to Ashern and Dad continued farming on a part time basis. Dad passed away on July 7, 1992, just two weeks after they had celebrated their 45th Wedding Anniversary. Mom stayed in Ashern and was involved with the ladies in the Church and legion. She loved gardening and especially her flower garden. On February 15, 1998 she met Herman Berndt of Moosehorn and were close friends until his passing in May of 2011. She then moved to East St. Paul to live with Alfred and Ruth. Her health was precarious and she was admitted to the hospital on September 21, 2013. She leaves to mourn her passing her four sons Lawrence (Rose), Bernie (Robin), Alfred (Ruth) and Ron (Sharon). Also she leaves three sisters Hertha Campbell, Leona (Willie) Yankie and Helen (Bill) Jaehrlich; two brothers Herman (Myrtle) Gall and Roy (Bev) Gall; nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Friends and relatives may pay their respects between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern, MB. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Ashern, MB with Pastor Erwin Tippel officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the Church. Interment will take place in the Hilbre Cemetery. Her seven grandsons will be pallbearers for her; Jason, Jeff, Steven, Darren, Sheldon, Lyndon and Wendelin. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses for the wonderful compassion and care expressed to our family at this time.
