He is survived by his loving wife Helen; son Glenn and his wife Maureen; sisters Marilyn (Jack) Warkentin and Joyce Measor; sisters-in-law Shirley Kletke, Gail Kletke and Ruth Holmstrom; and many nieces and nephews. In 1944 the family moved to a farm southeast of Teulon. He married his soulmate Helen Holmstrom on October 27, 1956. In 1959 his dream of farming was realized when he and Helen purchased the family farm and grew it into a diversified business of farming, seed cleaning, treating, coating and blending of specialty crops such as forage seeds, canola, beans and hemp. Today, such treated seed from their operation can be found on farms across the prairies as well as in the export market. Tours with other farmers took him and Helen to China, New Zealand, England, Brazil, Australia, Venezuela, Argentina, Mexico and across the United States. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Teulon Hospital for their care and compassion. A special thanks to Dr. Loudon and his family for his exceptional care as a physician and friend. Also to nephew Terry Warkentin who came from Carson City and spent the last six days being here for Herb's care and comfort and support for the family. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2013m at 1:00 p.m. at the Teulon Centennial Hall, Teulon, MB. A Private interment will take place later. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Winnipeg, Teulon Museum or the Teulon Library. To My FAMILY I go from you gently for it is my time To take the next step in this journey of mine; Don't grieve for me long - I've not left you alone For I will be with you In the love that we've known, That love is forever and some day when it's time You'll join me again on this journey of mine. • Our loss of Herb has made me think of home as I type 2 provinces away. When I came home to visit my parents, now just my father, the Kletkes were (and are) always part of the agenda. I would usually find Herb in the office with that twinkle in his eye as we shared a few catching up stories. It was Herb's voice on the telephone that told me my mother had passed. Thanks for that Herb, it must not have been an easy thing to do. The picture of you, Helen, and my daughter Rose has been on our fridge since receiving the news last week. You will be missed. Love Doug, Catherine, Rose and Josef. - Posted by: Doug Williams (Duda) ((son's best friend in our adolescence and husband of my mother's best friend))) on: Nov 11, 2013

  • I am saddened to learn of Herb's passing. I have known Herb for many years through our various encounters and shared passion for progressive agriculture. His quiet demeanour was a contrast to his committment to excellence and integrity and I cherish our visits. • I would like to say a few words about a man who had faith in me to get the job done and I did my best to never let him down. I looked up to Herb, he taught me so much and there was so much more to learn from such a great man and teacher. There will never be no one like him. I know that he is watching down on his place of happiness and we all know it was the farm! His Home! I will never forget the things and the times we spent together learning and working one on one. I will truly and forever miss you Herb. Luv you, Tracy - Posted by: Tracy Pemkowski (employee-friend) on: Nov 06, 2013
