EARL WAYNE VANCE It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Earl Vance, beloved husband of Susan. After a short struggle with cancer, Earl passed away at age 67 on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Riverview Health Centre. Father to Cheryl (Matthew) and Liza (Matthew), papa to Juliet, brother to Diana (Bob), Earl is loved and remembered fondly by all his family. He was born in Winnipeg on March 27, 1946 to Ann and John Vance. He married the love of his life, Susan (nee Cox) in September 1972. Earl retired from the provincial government after 29 years of service in 2002. He had a love of sports, coaching both his daughters in baseball and ringette and remained very involved in the Ringette community. You could always find Earl at a rink in the winter whether it be as a ref, shot clock operator, mentor, or avid fan. Earl loved working in his shop, building custom furniture for many family and friends. In the summer you could find him on his boat, fishing, or out on the golf course. Earl and Sue traveled together with many friends and family, including 5 trips to his favourite place, Hawaii. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview and Seven Oaks Oncology. Special thanks to Dana who provide Earl with such good care at home. A celebration of his life will take place at St. John's Presbyterian Church (251 Bannerman Ave.) at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or CNIB. Cropo Funeral Chapel 204-586-8044

  • I met Earl when I started playing ringette at the age of 7. his daughter Liza was one of my favourite instructors. As a member of the NWRA Earl and I crossed paths often and he became like a pseudo father to me. Over the past couple years Earl and I used to timekeep/shot clock NRL games together. I can honestly say those were some of the best times of my life. I will always remember his laugh and his sense of Humor. I will always remember his life lessons he taught me and his vibrance that he always brought to the rink. I love you Earl, I owe you a hot chocolate ;). Carrie Underwood said it best …I will see you again, This is not where it ends, I'll carry you with me… - Posted by: Caitlyn Taylor (Friend) on: Nov 08, 2013

  • I have many memories of school days, Young Peoples, Sparling Church and Weston. We drifted apart and were brought back together through our own children. Never really close but never far apart.
