I can remember Dennis as far back as 1942, when I first went to Whitemouth School at the town hall. The school had burned down that year and he was a few years ahead of me. He went to school in the local pool room by the post office. He was a very bright student, who according to rumors, already made his first radio from an old do it yourself kit. He made a .05 microfarad condenser out of an Ogden Fine Cut tobacco pouch. The tin foil in the pouch did the trick. The condenser took the 60 cycle "motor boating" hum out of the broadcast. This feat at the time would win him the nickname "Meatball" Wardrop for being the brightest kid in the school. He would end up M.T.S's main man. Not a surprise to those of us who knew him. Rest in peace Dennis. From an old lineman that grew up knowing what #10 wire is, and that cross arms and insulators are not just for shooting at. - Posted by: Harold Aitkenhead (Friend) on: Nov 08, 2013
