JAMES (JIM) YATES On November 3, 2013, James Yates passed away peacefully at Kildonan Personal Care Centre. Jim was born on November 11, 1926 in Winnipeg, the third son of Grace and Robert. He was raised and educated in East Kildonan where he attended Prince Edward, Polson and Lord Wolseley (East Kildonan Collegiate). In 1943 he followed his father and brothers into the Canadian National Railway. He retired from the position of Supervisor from the Transcona Shops in 1985 after 42 years of service. During retirement, Jim remained active within the Retired Supervisor's group from the CN. He met Lenore in 1949 and they married the following year. They spent 47 wonderful years together in East Kildonan enjoying family, friends, neighbors and community involvement. Lenore predeceased him in 1997. Jim was an exceptional husband, father and grandfather and took great pleasure in his deep and enduring friendships. Jim is lovingly remembered by his children Brenda (Don) Penner and Bruce and his beloved granddaughters Sandra, Carolyn, Shawna and Sarah. Our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Kildonan Personal Care Centre for their care, kindness and friendship. A private family graveside service will take place.
