RAYMOND CRAWFORD It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather in the early afternoon of November 4, 2013 at Deer Lodge Veterans Centre at 96 years of age. Dad was born December 7, 1916 at NE-20-16-1W near Erinview, Manitoba. Dad will be sadly missed by his sons Ken and Don of Argyle and Rod of Winnipeg, son-in-law Raymond Cormier, granddaughter Vanessa, grandsons Kurt (Andrea) Cormier, Darren (Angie) Cormier, Jared (Marni) Cormier and the nine great-grandchildren Tyler, Caleb, Luc, Sadie, Mary Jane, Delia, William, Leo and Colton all of La Salle, Manitoba, and also sister Eileen (Harold) Milne of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his wife Frances, daughter Rae Mary, also brothers George, Earl, Harry, Ed, William, Bert and Harold, and sisters Gladys, Edna and Sadie. Dad was a cattleman all his life and worked for Frank and Percy Copithorne of CL Ranches west of Calgary, Alberta between 1937 and 1940. During the Second World War Dad served overseas for three years with the Canadian Provost Corps spending time in England, North Africa and Italy. Returning home in 1945 he then married Frances Snyder of Argyle and started working for The Richardson Ranch near East Shoal Lake. In 1953 Raymond and Frances purchased their own farm near the town of Argyle where they raised Hereford cattle with their sons until retirement to Stonewall. A graveside service will be held at a later date. The family wishes to give special thanks for the care given Dad by the staff on Tower 5 at Deer Lodge Veterans Centre. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I only ever met Ray once in my whole life and it was at his home where we enjoyed a great supper. I thought so many times over the years of the stories he told of working for the Richardson Ranch. Seems like he lived a very interesting life. My own father has passed on as well, so I understand the empty feeling the family would feel. My wife and I offer our deepest condolences on his passing. May God give you strength in the days ahead.
