Born: May 05, 1928
Date of Passing: Nov 01, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANCES MAY DAVIS (nee MIDDLETON) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Fran on November 1, 2013 at Calvary Personal Care Home. Frances was born in Carberry, Manitoba on the 5th of May, 1928, to Alex and Alice Middleton. She leaves behind her daughter, Sharon (husband Robert) Hoel, her son Kevin (wife Teresa) Davis, her grandchild Gary, step- grandchildren Alisha and Allison and their families. Frances was predeceased by her husband Roy in July of 1990 and son Robert in January, 2012. She was also predeceased by her father Alex, her mother Alice, and her five brothers and sisters, Robert (interred in Italy 1944), Sandy, George, Bessie, and Isabelle. Frances was an animal lover and she and Roy owned and raised many a Boston Terrier. They had many happy little black and white bundles of joy, who now are reunited with Frances in heaven. We know she is being loved again by Bimbo, Bonnie, Dorie, Penny 1 and 2, Patches, Cheeky, Susie 1 and 2, Chipper 1 and 2, Lucky Charm, Gentle Ben, and her border collie Lassie. She will also be missed by the many squirrels in the Elmwood area and putting nuts out for her furry friends, a pest to many but friends to her. Frances went to work at an early age as a phone operator in Carberry, on the night shift. Then she went to Toronto to become a nurse, this did not work in her favour so she went to work with Bell Telephones until she moved to Winnipeg in the early 60's. She was employed at Eaton's switchboard then moved to Simpson Sears where she worked her way up to be the Manager of Customer Service at Kildonan Place. Retiring in 1987 she continued to volunteer with Age and Opportunity till going into the hospital in July 2007. She and her good friend Friedal were quite a team. Fran was also a proud member of the Women's Army Service Corp (Reserve). Frances and Roy went on many trips to Europe together. We would sincerely like to thank the staff at Calvary Place Personal Care Home (3rd floor South) for taking such good care of mom in her later years. Nurses Edith, Angie, Olga and the many others in the ward that always made her day full of laughter and happiness. Mom has been cremated and she will be buried beside her husband Roy in Brookside. If you wish to give a donation please give to one of the following, Mason Cancer Care Fund or the Khartum Shriners' Transportation Fund. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

I will never forget the day I pulled into Mr. Lube for an oil change. Within moments I could hear shouts from the truck parked in the next stall, it was Kevin and his Mom. It didn't take long to realize that Kevin got his quick wit from Fran. She had me in stitches as they both shouted sarcastic remarks back and forth. My favorite one coming from Fran..."she wasn't too old to take him (Kevin) out! After all, she brought him into the world...it was the best way to meet Fran. I am sure there are many more stories just like this and I know that Kevin will have many to share when he wants. All of our best wishes to you Kevin (Terrie) and the rest of your family. She had to be the funniest lady, I have spent time with as a companion aide. Always had stories about her dogs, and the ones still with her at the time. She is now at peace and back with her dogs.!! - Posted by: Kathy Edgar (home care companion support worker,,,) on: Nov 13, 2013

Our hearts are with you and your family, Kevin. My favorite memory of Fran is when you got her the electric scooter. You took her outside, and got her on to it on the sidewalk on Riverton. You gave her a quick lesson, and let her go. It was the funniest 20 minutes of my life watching you chasing her down. When you finally got her back, she told you it was your own fault for showing her. And then she called you that "a" word. What a wonderful lady. - Posted by: Scott & Ruth Anderson (Friends ) on: Nov 11, 2013

Fran worked with my mother, Riggie Eggertson, at Sears for years, and they continued to share their laughter and ability to see the ridiculous in everything after both of them retired. During my mother's illness, Fran's devotion and supportive strength came through, and I so much valued her helping my mom and me at that tough time. Fran and I had a mutual love of dogs and fine art...she had brought me fine glass flamingos from Italy that I still display! My deepest condolences to Sharon and Kevin and their families. Your Mom was a joy to many! - Karen Eggertson - Posted by: Eggertson (friend) on: Nov 11, 2013
