LEON MELNIC With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Léon Melnic on November 8, 2013 at the age of 75, in the ICU at St. Boniface Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves to mourn his "Elle a des beaux yeux" Rolande (Dumesnil) of almost 50 years, his son Marc, daughter Lynn (Eugène Fillion) and three grandchildren, Chantal, Eric and Roxanne. He also leaves his siblings Johnny, Roger, Doris (Noël Painchaud) and Maurice (Gayle). He is predeceased by his mother Della Ménard, father Stanley Melnic, brother Alan and sister Thérèse Remus. He also says good-bye to his many in-laws, nephews, nieces, farming buddies, construction associates, loyal employees, his McCafé crew, Sal's breakfast bunch, the Notre Dame Recreational Centre after being a longtime community volunteer and the Old Timer Hockey League. Léon was born August 3, 1938 in St. Eustache, Manitoba. Farming was in his blood. He is now finally retired in his "Big Green Tractor" and giving rides in the Combine to all those we miss, like he did with us. Love you and miss you. Rest in peace dear husband, dad, "pépère" and brother. The funeral mass will be held at the St. Boniface Cathedral on Friday, November 15 at 2:00 p.m. Donations can be made in his honour to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or towards the renovations of the St. Boniface Cathedral. We miss our Dad greatly. He never said much but was always there to give his Big helping hand and encouragement in all we did. He was an inspiration to us all and just loved everyone. His grandchildren, Chantal, Eric and Roxanne, adored him since he was there at all possible for anything they needed. I believe his prayer tribute and the enormous amount of people who came to celebrate his life with us at the Cathedral on November 15th, 201,3 is the testament of how much he was loved by all and how he touched them in one manner or another. Again, thank you to all who made this last harvest season very special for my Dad.
