My Dear Mother Lorraine Margaret Whiffen passed away this morning at 6:10, Nov 13,2013. She was living at the St Adolphe personal care home which recently closed & the residents were moved to the new home in Niverville. My Mother was unhappy & very lonely in Niverville. She was more at home in St Adolphe where the staff made her feel good & she was somewhat comfortable there. We were currently working on getting Mom in the city where she would have been happy & close to family & friends but these processes take time & it is now too late for her & I feel for any families that have to go through what we have had to endure with dealing with the public trustee. My Mother would not eat for the past 12 days & refused medication because she was heart broken at being put in a room with no love. Last night she was sent to the Steinbach hospital where she passed away this morning. My dear mother did not deserve to leave this world in this manner, all alone & heart broken. My Mother started the first food bank in Winnipeg at the St Matthews Church & was president of the Manitoba Anti-Poverty organization in which she made trips to Ottawa to get help for people in need. My mother was a genuine caring & loving person who helped anyone in need & was more than happy to inform them of their rights. My mother will be dearly missed by those who knew her & her kindness & unselfishness. I am grieving my Mother's departure from this world to heaven knowing I will never be able to talk to her or see her loving smile again or get her words of advice or her ability to comfort me in certain times. My mother was always there for me with unconditional love & she taught me at an early age to accept responsibility for my actions & to live a certain way. I remember when I turned 18, she came into my room & said to me Happy Birthday Son, you are 18 today now it's time for you to look at yourself in the mirror & change things in your life that are not good & time for you to accomplish the things you wish to succeed at in life. Right now I can hear her saying to me be strong my boy & everything will work out. Mom had many words of wisdom & she would say life is hard & even harder if you are stupid. Mom always said life is short & we only have so much time to accomplish the things we wish to pursue. She taught me to be a good person & have a good heart & I will never forget her kindness & her words of wisdom. I will always love you Mom & I already miss you with all my heart. Rest In Peace Dear Mother. - Posted by: Jordan Whiffen (Son) on: Nov 20, 2013
