JEAN YOUNG On Sunday, November 17, 2013, our beloved mother peacefully passed away at Fred Douglas Lodge, at the age of 99. She will be sorrowfully missed and forever remembered by her son Jim and his wife Teresa; and her daughter Barbara. She was predeceased by her husband Duncan in 1979. Jean was born in Daysland, Alberta on August 22, 1914. She married Duncan, a young R.C.M.P. officer and subsequently they spent many happy years in rural Manitoba. In 1957, they moved to Winnipeg where Jean worked at the Metropolitan store for the next 30 years. Jean took great pride in her involvement with the Rebekah Lodge, Westworth United Church, and the R.C.M.P. Veterans' Ladies Auxillary. Her passion for gardening was reflected in the beautiful flower beds that she created in her yard every summer. Jean's generosity of spirit, easy humour and caring nature made a lasting impression on all who knew her. She will be lovingly remembered. A special thanks to the staff of Fred Douglas Lodge for their kindness and care during the past four years. A service of remembrance will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Jean's memory to Westworth United Church, the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, or a charity of one's choice.
