HAMILTON HERBERT DREWLO August 11, 1923 - November 18, 2013 It is with deep sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of our Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather Hamilton (Ham) Drewlo. Ham was born in Beausejour, the youngest of nine children. He was predeceased by his parents Ernst and Augusta, his siblings and his daughter Jean. He is survived by his loving wife Doreen, daughters, Cathy (Ron), Milly, Margaret (Paul), stepchildren, Kim (Tim), Jeff (Angie), nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Ham worked as an electrician for the Federal Government and after retiring, was employed by the Delta Hotel. Ham's greatest pleasure was to share his immense love of music, whether it was playing guitar and singing with the Senior Melody Group, singing with the Golden Chordsmen, or the Happy Homesteaders. His ultimate personal fulfillment came from performing with Doreen in The Sisters Of The Holy Rock where he received as much as he gave. He lived each day to the fullest and made the world a better place. He truly loved his family and was deeply loved in return. He will be greatly missed. Memorial service will be held Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Avenue West. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jocelyn House or a charity of your choice. Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery 338-7111

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Mr Drewlo as I called him as a child was an important and impressive role model as I grew up. I spent many happy hours in the Drewlo home in Clandeboye. He was the first person I knew who could play a banjo and even to my untrained ears, I knew he played it well. I was privileged to have a short visit with him and Doreen just a few months ago when our paths happened to cross. I have only good memories of him and envy the angels a little as they listen to his music in Heaven. - Posted by: Laura Foster Kitchen Tutlies (Family friend and former neighbor) on: Nov 24, 2013

  • It was a pleasure to know you, Ham. You and Doreen had many happy times together. You will be missed. - Posted by: Arlene Starr (friend) on: Nov 21, 2013

  • Thinking of you all today and remembering with fondness the few times I met Ham and Doreen. I am glad my grandson, Mchael's (his grandson, too) middle name is Hamilton. Love and warmest regards, Beverly Douhan - Posted by: Beverly Douhan (Mother in law to one of Ham's daughters) on: Nov 21, 2013

  • We are so sorry to hear of Ham's passing. You are in our thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Kim & Joe Vodopivec (friend) on: Nov 20, 2013

  • Doreen and family, our thoughts are with you in these days as you deal with the loss of Ham. Joan and I will be eternally grateful that we were able to visit with Ham and Doreen at Tillies home in Winnipeg just prior to Ham's 90th birthday party with all of the children. I am so happy that this special event happened since both Ham and Doreen were so looking forward to it. We will choose to remember the good times that were had by all, for me particularly at the family reunions, since Ham and Doreen sang so beautifully. - Posted by: Jerry Drewlo (Cousin) on: Nov 20, 2013

  • Uncle Hammy will be missed. The Drewlo family band is together again. - Posted by: Susan, Lloyd and Paul Bonner (Niece, Nephew and Great-Nephew) on: Nov 20, 2013

  • Doreen and Hammy's family. Our deepest sympathy to all of you on your loss of a real sweet, gentle, quiet gentleman. He will be sadly missed. - Posted by: Mike & Billie Ratkowski (friends) on: Nov 20, 2013
