STANKO BATUR It is with great sadness our dad, grandpa, and friend had to leave us. Stanko leaves behind his grieving son Stan (Rhonda), grandchildren Michael and Leah, close friends Damir, Radovan, Ivan, and his family back in Croatia. Originally from Pridraga, Croatia, Stanko came to Canada some 50 years ago to build a new life. Stanko worked for 35 years at Schneiders Meats until he retired. Stanko will be remembered for his love of soccer, including the years he coached for Winnipeg Youth Soccer and Croatian soccer teams. Through the years, Stanko would attend son Stan's soccer games and, when he was well enough, he would go to his grandkid's soccer and hockey games. Stanko lived a simple life and was proud of his home and car, and enjoyed having his buddies over to share their stories of their families and cats. Every summer Stanko would tend his gardens and generously share his fresh vegetables with friends and family. On Sundays, when he was able, he would attend the Hrvastski Travnik (Croatian picnic ground) to cut meat, play bocci ball, and enjoy the company of his fellow Croatians. Stanko will also be remembered for his stubbornness, and no one can remember ever winning an argument against him. We will miss Stanko dearly. A memorial service, followed by a reception, will be held on Friday, November 22 at the Croatian Catholic Church Saint Nicholas Tavelich, 2688 Main Street, starting at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow. Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 338-7111

Stanko was one of the hardest working people at JMS. He took great pride in his work. I will always remember his shy smile whenever we spoke. God bless his family at this sad time. - Posted by: Bill McLean (Coworker) on: Nov 20, 2013
