Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBIENVENIDO SILVA ILAGAN On November 15, 2013, at approximately 3:35 p.m., Bienvenido Silva Ilagan, 76, of Winnipeg, MB, drew his final breath at the Riverview Health Centre, surrounded by his loving wife and family. "Lolo" Bien was born in Alaminos, Laguna, Philippines, on March 8, 1937, to parents Juanito and Eufracia Ilagan. He attended Alaminos Elementary and Ateneo De San Pablo High School where he excelled academically. He held a joint degree from The Philippine College of Commerce and Far Eastern University, graduating with a Bachelor of Sciences in Finance in 1963. Bien and Elena Cachero Monterola were married on November 30, 1965, at Signora Nuestra Del Pilar Church in Alaminos, Laguna, Philippines. They welcomed five children into their lives. Bien was employed as a clerk by Great West Life in Makati, Manila, with an eventual promotion to Supervisor within the Accounting Department. Devoted to their young family, Bien and Ellen decided to give their children promising futures by immigrating to Canada. They settled in Winnipeg where Bien worked briefly as a bookkeeper with Piston Ring, eventually settling into a position with Canada Post for 22 years, where he made lasting friendships. After a rewarding tenure with the company, Bien retired in 2002. Bien is survived by wife, Ellen; children, Reuben (Emma), Reidel (Shirley), Rachel (Sean), Rhoneil (Jackie) and Rowen (Kerri); grandchildren Jenna, Jorja, Jessica, Alexa, Brendan, Alyssa, Kahleia, Kana, Sariel; siblings Nelia, Corazon, Cesar (Orly), Romeo (Helen), Rolando (Mena), Linda (Lito), and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews in Canada, the Philippines, and Europe. The Ilagan Family would like to extend their gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the healthcare teams at Health Sciences Centre, the Oncology and Radiology Departments of CancerCare Manitoba, the healthcare teams at Riverview Health Centre and the many friends and extended family who granted us unlimited support, encouragement and love during our struggle. The Ilagan Family will receive friends for Lamay and Prayers on November 27, 2013, at 7:00 p.m., at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB, 204-982-8300. Father Boguslaw Wardzinski will officiate the Funeral Service on November 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Joseph's Church, 355 Andrews, 204-589-5478. Bien will be laid to rest following, at 1:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made in memorium to Riverview Health Centre Foundation and CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
