Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES ALEXANDER HUBBARD April 30, 1930 - November 23, 2013 Charles was born and raised in Stonewall, MB. His passions in life were his family and his hockey. In 1947 he won his first of many provincial hockey championships with the Teulon Jr. B team. He then played four seasons for the Stonewall Flyers Intermediate A team. In 1952 Charles married Allison and they moved to Pine Falls where he worked 36 years in the paper mill. He played hockey for the Pine Falls Paper Kings for 23 years winning many Provincial championships, and then played 13 years for the Pine Falls Ol'Kings, winning several Canadian and International oldtimer hockey tournaments. In 2010, he and his 1956 / 1957 Paper Kings team were inducted into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame for their 1957 Western Canada International AA Championship. Charles and Allison loved spending time at their cottage at Wallace Lake. They always welcomed family and friends to their homes in Pine Falls and Stonewall, and to "The Cottage". In 1987 when a forest fire destroyed their cottage, they quickly set to work and had it rebuilt within a year. Moving back to Stonewall in 1989 Charles enjoyed his many friends at Lions Manor in Stonewall. Charles finished his hockey days playing with the Stonewall Oldtimers, but he never did end his winning ways, winning many more tournaments until he hung up his skates in 2009. Charles loved spending time with family including brothers Ed (Darlene), Jim (Karen), sisters Ethel, Eva, children Brenda and Bryan (Debra), grandchildren Rob (Jackie), Shaun, Della (Shawn), Jennifer, Steven, and great-grandchildren Austin, Brenden, Julie and Johannes. Charles was predeceased by his parents Charles Wentworth and Annie, his sister Elaine, and his brother Wentworth. The Hubbard family would like to thank the staff at the Stonewall Hospital and Red River Place for their tireless support of Charles over the past year. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charles' name can be sent to the Stonewall United Church. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Home, 433 Main Street, Stonewall, MB. MACKENZIE FUNERAL HOME STONEWALL (204) 467-2525 mackhome@mts.net

Dear Brenda & family, Our thoughts are with you during this time. "Dark clouds have silver linings; And even teardrops glisten; And sad songs have sweet melodies; If we will only listen. Raindrops shine like diamonds fair; Thistles have a lovely flower; And hope -- like a cheery sunbeam; Springs in the darkest hour." Sincerely, Edith, Pierre & family - Posted by: Edith, Pierre and family () on: Nov 26, 2013
