BERNIE WAGNER November 26, 1942 - November 24, 2013 It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Bernie on November 24, 2013 at his residence in Selkirk. Predeceased by his wife Diane and lovingly remembered by his partner Elaine. He will be sadly missed by sons Chris and Mark (Andrea); grandchildren Megan, Owen and Adam; mother Mally; sisters Karin and Ange (Leo); sister-in-law Gladys and nieces and nephews. Also pre-deceased by his father Adolf and brother Rainer. Bernie was born in Bad Wildungen, Germany, and came to Canada with his family in 1953. He started and operated a successful cabinet-making business, Universal Woodwork of Selkirk, for most of his working life. He was also very active in the community, serving as a city councillor as well as being an active member of Kinsmen and Chairman of North Red Community Futures for many years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends during various camping and fishing trips across Canada, and in his later years his passion for photography kept him active in the outdoors. He also enjoyed his long-standing morning routine with his "coffee buddies", solving world issues. The family would like to thank the paramedics and medical team that attended, and for the loving support shown by the community during this difficult time. As per Bernie's wishes, no funeral service will be held. Family and friends are invited to come together for a celebration of his life on Friday, November 29 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Selkirk Golf & Country Club, 100 Sutherland Ave. Donations in Bernie's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
