LYLE AMY CAMPBELL (nee CUMMING) January 23, 1941 - November 28, 2013 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Lyle Amy Campbell. She leaves to mourn her husband of 52 years, Merv, and their children Todd (Crystal), Terri (Dale), and Brent (Joanne), her grandchildren Derek, Niki, Robyn, Devin, and Kelsey, and her sister, Myrna (Ross), in addition to many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Queenie Cumming. Lyle lived in Teulon most of her life. She met Merv when she was 15 and from that time on, she had eyes for no one else. When she graduated from high school, she attended Normal School and after graduating from there, she began her teaching career. Her first school was in Selkirk, Manitoba, but after only a few years, she returned to Teulon to teach high school. When her family arrived, she stopped teaching to raise her children. She and Merv lived in town until Terri was born. At that time, they swapped houses with Merv's mom and dad, and moved out to the farm, where they remained until this last month. When their children were older, Lyle returned to teaching again, only this time at the elementary school. She was a great teacher, respected by her colleagues, the parents of her students, and her students. Lyle was active in the community. She helped out at the yearly Agricultural Fair, taking on the responsibility of the school entries, she was judge of the annual Pumpkin Fest, and if her help was needed at a function be it baking, making sandwiches, setting up, or cleaning up, she was there. Lyle enjoyed curling, reading, a game of cards and spending time with family and friends. She and Merv did like to go camping in the summer. One of their favourite places to go, from the time they were young until just a few years ago, was Lake St. George. Many a good story evolved from there. Lyle's door, at the farm, was always open and the coffee pot was always on. Everyone was made to feel welcome. In this last year, Lyle struggled with numerous health problems. She faced them bravely, but unfortunately it was not to be. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. The community has lost a great citizen! The family would like to thank Dr. Loudon and the caring staff at the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital. She couldn't have been in a better place! Thank you! Cremation has already taken place. As per Lyle's request, there will be no funeral. A celebration of her life will be held in the spring for the family. Donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital, the Teulon United Church, or the Interlake Palliative Care.
