BETTY NEWTON (MITCHELL) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Newton on December 3, 2013 at the age of 87 years. Betty was predeceased by her loving husband Arthur Newton and her son Greg Newton, as well as her sisters Vi and Grace, and her brother Bill. Left to grieve the loss of Betty are her sons George (Smokey) and Alana, Stan (Skip) and Jill and Guy Newton. Also left to mourn are her grandchildren Cheryl, Brenda, Johnathan, Joshua, Mitchell and Bradley, together with great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Betty was a loving, caring individual who loved her family very much. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and her family meant everything to her. Betty spent her working years at Woolco in Winnipeg until her retirement in 1985 to Whytewold, Manitoba. She loved her life at the lake and made wonderful friends who helped her enjoy her retirement. Her wishes to remain at home until her passing were granted. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff and physicians at both the Gimli and Selkirk hospitals for their wonderful care of Betty. Also, family can't thank Cathy, Kate and Gloria enough for their caring and friendship. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Just met Betty at Bingo and enjoyed her friendship for many years. - Posted by: Shirley Fast (Friend) on: Dec 07, 2013

  • Betty was such a loving & giving person, she always worried about everyone else before she thought of herself. I would do Betty's shopping & then we would sit & visit. I looked forward to the time I spent with Betty & always thought of Betty as a second Mom. I am certainly going to miss her as I'm sure you all will, so please accept my condolences at this time & be comforted by the fact that you will see her again one day. - Posted by: Cathy Whitehead (friend) on: Dec 07, 2013
