Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOE POCZIK October 15, 1935 - November 30, 2013 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of William Joseph Poczik, age 78, of La Broquerie, MB after a short battle with cancer. Joe is survived by his three sisters: Mary Rushmore, Ethel Poczik, Victoria May, several nieces and nephews, and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents Victor and Gizella Poczik, and brother Frank Poczik. Joe was born on the farm where he spent the majority of his life farming. At a young age Joe developed a strong work ethic in which he held his entire life. In the early 1960s Joe received his certificate in welding. He worked briefly in Thompson for INCO, in Steinbach for Schellenberg Massey and later for Fast Brothers. But his true passion called him back to the farm where he and Frank operated a dairy for many years then grain and hay. In October 1983 Joe lost his right leg in a farming accident that would not deter him from continuing to farm in summer and cut wood in winter. It was never unheard of to see Joe doing custom work on his D6 caterpillar for local farmers or pushing road for the municipalities. Joe enjoyed the company of friends and neighbours past and present. The family would like to thank doctors and staff at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach for their care and compassion. Joe wished to be cremated and a memorial to be held at a later date. Arrangements by BIRCHWOOD FUNERAL CHAPEL 1-204-346-1030 OR 1-888-454-1030
