Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN CHMILNISKY Peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2013, Helen passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 86 years. She will be fondly remembered by her children Dwight and Lynn Chmilnisky, and Karen and Brian Friesen, and grandchildren Lindsay and David Proteau and Lisa Chmilnisky. Helen was predeceased by her loving husband Walter in 2003. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved life and her fun loving spirit will be greatly missed. Her happiest times were spent with her family and numerous friends and she enjoyed a full life bowling, golfing, dancing and singing along with Walter's harmonica with a Caesar in her hand. Dwight and Karen would like to thank Helen's brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and the many friends who took time to visit with her over the past several years. Thank you to Dr. Konrad and the staff of St. Boniface Hospital for their kind care over the past weeks. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Helen's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 0V9. Funeral Service to be held on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. To Dwight & Karen and your families, my deepest condolences. Auntie Helen , as she was so affectionately known to me, will always be remembered for being a great friend to our family and being a great influence on me and my sister growing up. She was always there for us, both her and Walter were the life of the party. So sorry to hear about your mom. She was so funny back in the early seventies when we skipped school and hung out at your place on Talbot. She gave us heck but was super nice and encouraging too. Auntie Helen will be sadly missed by us, her occasional phone calls to keep us up to date on family were always welcome. During the family reunion many years ago, even though I was not yet married to Dave, she welcomed me like I was family and made my visit a memory I haven't forgotten. Auntie Helen was like a second mother to me when my mother passed in 1975 and I know other people who feel the same way. Just a quick note to say how sorry I am to hear of your Mom's passing. Dwight and Lynn I remember when we went to your folks place and I think it was for a car rally and how happy your Mom was.
