DONALD F. MCLEAN With deep sadness we announce the passing of Donald F. McLean on Saturday, December 7, 2013. Beloved husband of Lois; daughters Sharon, Shelley (Doug), Sandra (Murry); grandchildren Tom and Jane; as well as many nieces and nephews. Don was born and raised in Minnedosa, Manitoba. Following high school he continued his education at the University of Manitoba obtaining a degree in Science in Agriculture. Don's working career started in Alberta hosting an agriculture radio show. From there he moved to Ottawa with the Department of Agriculture, returning to Winnipeg in 1960 hosting live television on CJAY. After television, Don spent 26 years with the Manitoba Government, retiring in 1989 as Assistant Deputy Minister of Health. Physical activity was a big part of Don's life. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed cross-country skiing with his daughters and swam almost every day up into his 80's. Endless summers were enjoyed at the cottage at Delta Beach with family gatherings, bonfires and beautiful sunsets. Don's sincere and genuine interest in people and his natural ability to communicate made him successful in all of his professional and personal endeavors. Don was liked by all and will be greatly missed by those who had the opportunity to know him. At Don's request a private family service will be held. This was my first job after graduating from high school in June and I couldn't have wished for a nicer man to work for! My sincerest condolences go out to his treasured family and many loving friends who had the pleasure of knowing him. My prayers are with you. • I grew up just down the lane from the McLeans and was friends with the girls. Growing up Mr McLean was just as big of my life as my dad. I always enjoyed our conversations when he would go on his walks down the lane and stop in and say hi. I hope that you are remembering all the good times and memories you have of your dad, and cherish them. Take care, and my deepest sympathies to you all as you comfort each other during this time.
