GORDON ROSS MARSHALL October 23, 1924 - December 7, 2013 Gordon Ross Marshall beloved husband of June Marshall for 62 years, passed away peacefully at Shaftesbury Park Retirement Residence. Gordon was predeceased by his sisters Dorothy (Young) and Avis (McCurdy). He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, June; his children Sharon (Earl Clayton), and Eric (Sharon), his grandchildren Melissa (Marty Erletz) and Jessica (Daniel Harrison); Catherine (Tom Ens), Lauren and Victoria; and great-grandchild Mya Harrison. Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Gordon entered Acadia University, and after a two year interruption serving in the Canadian Air Force and Army, completed a Bachelor's degree in 1948. Moving to Toronto he met and married June Thomas in 1951. An accountant by training, Gordon became the comptroller for several businesses during a 40 year career in Southern Ontario and Cape Breton. After retirement in 1989 there was more time for leisure and for travel. His interests included golf, badminton and the music of the big band era. He volunteered for several years with the Royal Canadian Legion and the United Church - often as treasurer. In 2008 Gordon and June moved to Winnipeg in order to be closer to family. The family would like to thank Dr. A.N. Schroeder as well as the staff and friends from Shaftesbury Park Retirement Residence for their kind and compassionate support of both Gordon and June over the past several years. A memorial service will be held at Shaftesbury Park Retirement Residence at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2013. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
