Date of Passing: Dec 10, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY BERNARD 1929 ! 2013 On December 10, 2013, Mary joined her loving husband and soul mate Sal in her heavenly home. Mary leaves to mourn her family Brian (Hennie), Bob (Sharon), Gary (Mona), Mary-Lou (Rob), grandchildren, Korey (Cynthia), Sarah (Mike), Sean (Maizie), David (Jolene), Kristi (Jordan), Cody, Luke (Alana), Chelsea, and Breanne, and 11 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sister, Annie, nieces and nephews, as well as Cindy Ashton and many special friends. Mom was born on January 7, 1929 in Khedive, Saskatchewan. She met Dad and was also married on that date at the young age of 18. They quickly settled into married life and went on to raise four children. Dad's career brought them to Winnipeg where they settled and met many friends. Mom had a competitive spirit and was a force to be reckoned with when it came to bowling or horseshoes. Mom and Dad enjoyed traveling and loved to have family members join them, but they found the most pleasure at their cottage at St. Laurent. There, they built a place where friends and family were welcome in both summer and winter. The door was always open and they hosted many horseshoe tournaments. Dad and Mom were constantly building on to the cottage, he held the hammer and she held the broom. She spent her last years knitting us all scarves and sweaters. She enjoyed the casino and going to bingo with her special friend Laura. When Mom got the diagnosis of cancer, she dug in her heels, and took it on with courage and strength. Mom was always there to help all of us in times of need, a rock to give us strength. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Mom, you will forever be in our hearts and minds and have left us all with memories of unconditional love. The family would like to thank the staff at the Grace Hospice for the care you gave our Mom in her final days. A celebration of Mary's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Blessed John XXIII, 3390 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB. www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

Dear Lou, Big Brothers and family; I have such wonderful memories of your mom. Especially as teenagers, she treated us so well and respected us as young adults, during a time when we were learning our way. Take good care of each other and I hope you will soon find comfort in all your wonderful memories. - Posted by: Suzanne Halpenny () on: Dec 13, 2013
