NORAH KERR (nee STOCKAN) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother and Grandmother Norah Kerr on December 14, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed by her children Ron (Lou), Alison (Jim), Steele and Elaine (Terry) Hayes, and her grandchildren Ryan (Candice), Jodi, Mitchell and Alex. Norah was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, August 26, 1929. She married Archie Kerr in 1954 and immigrated to Canada in 1958 settling in the East Kildonan area. She worked as a school secretary in the River East School Division. Norah moved to Kelowna in 1978 and worked as a church secretary and later as a proof reader. She enjoyed the mild weather, swimming in the lake and hosting frequent visitors from out of town. As her health began to decline, she moved back to Winnipeg to be close to her kids and grandkids. She moved to Concordia Village and thoroughly enjoyed her time there, making many new dear friends. Norah was an active, independent, social and helpful person who enjoyed giving her time to the causes she believed in. Norah's love of travel led to many lasting friendships with people from all over the world. Her positive attitude was unwavering even in the face of adversity. Norah's family would like to thank all the helpful people at Concordia Village, and for the wonderful care provided by CancerCare Manitoba, the Home Care and Palliative Care teams, and the attentive staff at Riverview Health Centre. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Rm. ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9C9, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6, or a charity of your choice.
