Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Alice and Alf lived next door to my Mom and Dad for many years. They became like part of our family, and were very dear to our hearts. Alice and my Mom were very close and Alice was a gift from God when my Mom developed Alzheimer's, staying with her at times to give my Dad a break. She put up with abuse and insults with a smile and a quick wit, knowing it was the disease, not Laura. When my Mom (Laura) passed away in 1997 suddenly, I was devastated, and as she had always been for my Mom, Alice was there for me also. When I didn't think I would make it she said to me "I know I can't take her place but I will be here for you as long as I can" and she was, right to the end. She was so much more than a Neighbour, or Friend, to all of us. To me she was a second Mom, but also a Sister in The Lord. I will miss her greatly, but I know she is safe in the arms of Jesus, and there is no better place to be. Thank you to all the Family for sharing your Mom, your Treasure, and a special thanks to Edie for keeping me informed. I appreciated it so very much. You are in our thoughts and Prayers and we share in your loss - Posted by: George and Lorraine Bardsley (Whillier) (Close family friend (second Mom)) on: Dec 31, 2013

  • So sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. Alice worked with my mom Mary Snell @ Langton's Fish & Chip on Ness Ave. many years ago. My sister Sharon and I spent many hours playing with Edith and Linda in our elementary years. Alice treated us like her own. We had some good laughs with her. • Deepest Sympathies to the Family, donation will be made in her name, Tina - Posted by: Tina Marie Shipman (friend of Ken and Beryl) on: Dec 20, 2013

  • Mrs. Brennan was a caring sweet woman who raised a gaggle of girls and one special boy. She loved the noise and commotion of a big family. She cared about those around her and was a volunteer right up until she went into the hospital. I see her loving traits in her only son, Neal. He carries with him, her love of family and friends. She was so very fond of her boy, and he will miss her a lot. - Posted by: Bonnie McCann (Family Friend) on: Dec 19, 2013

  • Sorry to hear of your loss. I enjoyed living next door to Alice and Alf on Minto. Fond memories, great neighbours. - Posted by: Clint Buss (Neighbour) on: Dec 18, 2013

  • I have many fond memories of Alice over the years. She loved making butterflies years ago and gave me several. She enjoyed going to the gardens at Assiniboine Park and of course having some ice-cream which she had most times I was out with her. She was a strong woman with a great laugh. She enjoyed her family so much, always looked forward to getting together with them. She is at peace now - no more struggles. - Posted by: Janice Glatz (Friend through Central Baptist Church) on: Dec 18, 2013
