Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I first met Thelma and Augie through my late husband's niece Shirley Willis who was their next door neighbour. We kept in touch over the years and Shirley and I visited her in Fred Douglas over the years. Since April when my Father Rudy Mehmel also found his home on Willow ward in Fred Douglas, I got to see her on an almost daily basis. One favourite memory was Dad & Thelma singing together one of the oldies. Dad remarked on her beautiful voice. What an apt word - all my memories of your Mother Thelma was that of a beautiful person, caring, fun-loving person who was a genuinely nice person. She was upbeat no matter the circumstances. This has been such a tough year. Shirley passed away on October 17 and Dad on December 14. May you take comfort in knowing that others you personally will not know share in your loss. God bless. - Posted by: Linda Burdett (friend of Thelma since the early 1970) on: Jan 14, 2014

  • I remember your Mom fondly; I always enjoyed visits at your home (both as a child and later). Your Mom was always so energetic and full of life - a genuinely happy person who made those around her happy. I was fortunate enough to accompany my Mom on a visit to see her just a few years ago and thrilled to find the same laughing, story-sharing lady I remembered. Cherish the many memories you created with her. - Posted by: Sharen (Copping) Bresoline (Family friend) on: Jan 01, 2014

  • We have lost someone very special with Auntie Thelma's passing. We must all cherish the many happy memories we had and remember all the wonderful times our families had together; family gatherings were always filled with much laughter and merriment. People are remembered for many different reasons. The legacy Auntie Thelma leaves behind is the reminder that above all else, family is of the utmost importance. Always quick to host social and family gatherings, it was not uncommon for Thelma to be dancing or singing her way through dinner. Gregarious, fun-loving and warm spirited, she touched the lives of all who met her, and her passing leaves a void in the hearts of many. - Posted by: Diane Lea (Niece) on: Dec 30, 2013
