LAURA TILLEY FRASER We are sad to announce the passing of our mother Laura Tilley Fraser (neé MacMillan), on December 23, 2013. Laura was predeceased by her husband Gilbert, her son Grant, her infant daughter Janet, and siblings. She is survived by her children Gilbert (Linda), Lawrence, Linda (Brian), Susan (Len), Randall (Deena), Judy (Stuart), Delma (Dale), and Robert (Anna), her grandchildren Karen, Diane (Darryl), Miranda, Christopher, Amanda, Carly, Justin (Stacey), Jennifer, Matthew, and Daniel, her great grandchildren Lance, Anabel, and Jake, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins around the world. Laura was born on February 19, 1924, in Glasgow Scotland, and immigrated to Canada as a young girl with her father and brother. She met her husband Gilbert when they both worked at the Winnipeg Bus Depot. They were married in 1946, and went on to raise nine children. Laura was a homemaker, who took the occasional odd job. She enjoyed her bowling league, singing in the choir, knitting, and assorted other needle point crafts. She loved attending musicals and the ballet, and had a soft spot for cats and dogs, and enjoyed the company of many through the course of her life. Later in life, Laura continued to sing in the choir at the senior's residence and joined the Red Hat Ladies Society, with whom she enjoyed many outings. Laura was a lifelong hockey fanatic, with a special fondness for the Winnipeg Jets. She spent her last year at Holy Family Nursing Home and the family would like to thank the staff of 3A, whose caring hands and support were deeply appreciated. The memorial service will take place on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society at 45 Hurst Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3, or charity of your choice.
