He will be sadly missed by his wife Audrey (nee Smith) of Winnipeg, daughter Verna (Peter MacQuarrie) of Calgary, son Don of Fannystelle, daughter Glenda of Winnipeg, sister Wilma Miller of East Lansing, Michigan and his brothers-in-law Don Murray of Palatine, Illinois, Howard (Louise) Smith of Dugald, and Cliff Smith of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his parents Dick and Laura and his sister Lois. Harry was born on November 8, 1927, in Fannystelle, Manitoba. He attended school in Fannystelle and Lord Selkirk School in Winnipeg. Harry and Audrey were married on February 5, 1955. Dad was the third generation of the Stevens family to serve the surrounding communities by operating the lumberyard in Fannystelle. He was very strong and hardworking and many have stories of Harry and Audrey delivering building supplies late into the evening. Dad loved driving whether it was a long car ride on a long weekend or a bumpy ride in the truck. He also had a fantastic sense of humor which continued well into his journey with Alzheimer Disease. Sincere thanks to the absolutely amazing staff and volunteers at Boyne Lodge, Carman Hospital, St. Claude Health District, and Carman Palliative Care. We will forever be grateful. A Memorial Service will be held at the Elm Creek Community Hall on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Harold Kenyon officiating. There are not too many people in south western Manitoba that don't know of Steven's lumber and the stately gentleman who knew everyone by name. Harry was truly one of a kind. I remember him delivering very heavy steel doors in the middle of winter. Declining any help he toted each one like it only weighed a few pounds & he wasn't even wearing gloves. - Posted by: Jackie & Neil Shale (friends) on: Dec 28, 2013
