Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANCES JOHNSTONE (nee GREIG) Peacefully on December 23, 2013, with family by her side, Fran Johnstone passed away at the age of 90 at Concordia Hospital. Fran will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Joyce Okrainec and her children Becky and Marshall Okrainec; son Rob (Cindy) Johnstone and their son Brian Johnstone; and son-in-law Ken Okrainec. Fran is also survived by her sister Elizabeth (Betty) Lutz; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents William and Lillian Greig; and her husband William (Bill). Fran was born on August 4, 1923, in Winnipeg, MB, where she was raised. On August 28, 1948, she married Bill Johnstone. Fran and Bill moved their family to East Kildonan in March of 1960 and Fran lived there up until her passing. Fran developed relationships that she cherished deeply, through work at Eatons and even recently while attending day hospital at Concordia. Fran's greatest joy was watching her grandchildren grow and flourish. Her favourite pastimes were knitting, reading, bowling and watching curling. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. The family would like to send out a special thank you to Cindy and Barry Reimer for everything that they had done for Fran over the years, it was truly appreciated. The family would also like to thank the staff on the 3rd Floor at Concordia Hospital and Dr. Karen Lage for the care that they had shown Fran over the past two weeks. In lieu of flowers donations in Fran's name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. A heart of gold stopped beating, Working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. A golden heart did stop beating that day. Now all of ours are broken. If what is told to me is true she is now with Mom and AJ and many friends having a great time and out of pain. Yes, the pain for us continues and will for a long time. But we have each other to lean on. We will form bands around each other and support each other in our time of grief. Joyce, Becky, Marshall, Rob and Family My heart goes out to you....I know and understand what you are feeling all to well. I am here for you day and night.
