Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKENNETH WILLIAM FRASER It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Kenneth (Ken) William Fraser on December 23, 2013 at Grace Hospital at the age of 85. Ken was born in Melita, MB on June 13, 1928, to parents Angus and Mary Fraser, who were both born in Scotland. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Angus and Mary; his beloved wife of 40 years, Bernadette; his sisters, Isabel Gerrier, Eleanor Magee, brother, Ian (Scotty) Fraser; brothers-in-law, Donald Johnston, Art Maddess, Albert Gerrier and Andy Magee; sisters-in-law, Elvene Good, Doreen Johnston, and Kathleen Fraser; and his nephew Garnet Johnston. Ken is survived by his sister-in-law, Merita Maddess (Deloraine, MB) and his brother-in-law, Roy Good and his wife Anna of Saskatoon, SK, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and their families. Also left to mourn Ken's passing is his very dear friend Adaire Ward, her daughter Kathy and Adaire's two little fury friends, Magi and Paco. Ken received much enjoyment from the antics of the dogs. Ken spent his earlier years employed as a projectionist, managing a lumberyard and hardware store in Kamloops, BC for several years, and he also worked at the mines in Port Radium, North West Territories, for two years. When Ken returned to Manitoba, he was employed by CP Rail. In 1966 Ken began his successful career with Investors Group where he made many friends among his colleges as well as among his clients. Ken retired from Investors Group on December 31, 1997 after 31 years of service. Ken enjoyed most sports, but especially curling, which he participated in for many years. He also enjoyed watching hockey and baseball. He had season tickets to the Winnipeg Gold Eyes baseball games and he was a faithful fan. Ken and his late wife, Bernadette, enjoyed travelling, and in the summer they would pack up the trailer and travel to different areas of Canada and the US, visiting family and friends along the way. In later years they enjoyed spending time at their condo in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Ken had no children of his own, so all of his nieces and nephews and their families were his children. He took a great deal of interest and pride in their lives and their accomplishments and was one of their greatest supporters. Ken was a kind and gentle soul who had a smile and a wave HELLO for everyone. He would help anyone who needed it in any way possible. Ken was the family go-to-guy' for sage advice, a heart to heart talk or someone to lean on in difficult times. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Reception to follow service.
