DOREEN PAYETTE (nee ROY) After a courageous fight, Doreen passed away peacefully on December 28, 2013, at the St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 66 years. Doreen will be forever remembered by her loving husband Paul; children Marc (Diane), Angèle Matyi (John) and Michelle; grandchildren Alex, Céline and Sophie; sisters Dianne Girardin (Ron), Elaine Sabourin (Richard); brothers Norm (Barb) and Joey; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Amy Roy. Doreen was born on "Roy Day", August 20, 1947; a birthday shared by several family members. She grew up in St. Jean Baptiste, MB. Doreen married Paul on August 20, 1966. They started their life together on Guilbault Street in St. Boniface near her work at the Union Stock Yards. They soon had a son and Doreen stayed home to raise their three children in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes and Windsor Park. When her children were older Doreen worked at Kmart, Quinton's, Windsor Park Inn and finally Vital Statistics. After 21 years, she retired from the Civil Service in 2007. Doreen enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, visiting with friends, bingo at Club Regent and especially traveling. She always looked forward to spending the winter in Rincon de Guayabitos, Mexico. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital (6A) for their efforts and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Doreen's name to the Parkinson Society Manitoba or the charity of your own choosing Prayers will be said at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons Street. Celebration of Doreen's life will be held on Monday, January 6, 2014 with eulogy at 10:15 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m., at the Sts. Martyrs-Canadiens Church, 289 Dussault Street. DOREEN PAYETTE (née ROY) Après une lutte courageuse, Doreen est décédée paisiblement le 28 décembre 2013, à l'Hôpital Saint-Boniface, à l'âge de 66 ans. Elle laisse dans le deuil son époux bien-aimé Paul ainsi que ses enfants: Marc (Diane), Angèle Matyi (John) et Michelle et ses petits-enfants: Alex, Céline et Sophie. Ses soeurs: Dianne Girardin (Ron) et Elaine Sabourin (Richard) et ses frères: Norm (Barb) et Joey et de nombreux neveux, nièces, parentés et amis. Elle a été précédée par ses parents, Alfred et Amy Roy. Doreen est née le "Jour des Roys", le 20 août 1947, une date d'anniversaire partagée par plusieurs membres de la famille. Elle a grandi à Saint-Jean-Baptiste. Doreen épousa Paul le 20 août 1966. Ils ont commencé leur vie ensemble sur la rue Guilbault à Saint-Boniface près de son travail aux Union Stock Yards. Bientôt, ils ont eu un fils et Doreen resta à la maison pour élever leurs trois enfants à Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes et au Parc Windsor. Lorsque ses enfants étaient plus âgés, Doreen est allé travailler chez Kmart, Quinton's, au Windsor Park Inn et enfin au Bureau de l'état civil. Après 21 ans, elle se retira de la fonction publique en 2007. Doreen a aimé gâter ses petits-enfants, visiter ses amis, jouer bingo au Club Regent et surtout voyager. Elle attendait toujours avec impatience passer l'hiver à Rincon de Guayabitos au Mexique. La famille souhaite remercier le personnel de l'Hôpital Saint-Boniface (6A) pour leurs efforts et leur gentillesse. Plutôt que des fleurs, des dons peuvent être faits au nom de Doreen à la Société Parkinson Manitoba ou à l'organisme de bienfaisance de votre choix. Il y aura des prières à 19h, le dimanche 5 janvier au Salon mortuaire Desjardins au 357, rue DesMeurons. Les célébrations de la vie de Doreen auront lieu le lundi 6 janvier avec éloge à 10h15, suivie d'une messe des funérailles à 10h30, à l'église des Saints-Martyrs-Canadiens, 289, rue Dussault.
