DOLORES MAUREEN MUTCHER (nee SCHULTZ) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dolores on December 26, 2013 with her family by her side. She is predeceased by her parents Florence and Henry Schultz of Langenburg, SK. Left to mourn her passing are husband Larry, son Brian (Annie), daughters Bonnie (Wally) and Sandra (Stephan), granddaughters Amanda and Evelyn, three sisters, Lyda (John), Bernice (Ben) and Barbara-Ann Armstrong, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Dolores loved her family so much and spent as much time and energy with them as possible. She gave so much and expected so little. Her smile and sparkle in her eye lit up any room she walked into. Dolores was born in Esterhazy, SK on September 23, 1944. She worked hard on the family farm until she was 16 years old when she moved to Winnipeg to become a hairdresser. In 1966, she met Larry dancing at the German Club. They fell in love and married in Winnipeg on September 30, 1967. Their first child Brian was born in 1972 and their first daughter Bonnie was born in 1974. In 1976, they moved to Lockport and built their current home. Their second daughter Sandra was born in 1982. When her children were older, she worked in the kitchen at various Daycares as a cook. Dolores was a fantastic cook, baker and made beautiful crafts, quilts and sewing creations. She and Larry spent much of their time in their large vegetable and flower gardens which were admired by the many visitors they had. Dolores cooked, baked, canned and preserved all the food they grew. Dolores always planned every special event for the family and made us feel so special. Mom, you were the greatest! We don't understand why you were taken from us so soon. We think maybe God needed her to make a special quilt for him. It is so hard to let you go. We loved and cherished you so much. Thanks to the fantastic nurses, doctors and support staff on GH-7 at the Health Sciences Centre who were so patient with our questions and passionate with mom's care while working through the Christmas week. The viewing will be held at noon, funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 4 at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Selkirk. (106 Sawchuk Drive on the west side of Hwy 9 just south of Selkirk). NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • Just found out about Delores' passing. We are so surprised at the loss of such a vibrant person. We will remember her for the time we spent together in the 70's and most fondly for our chance meeting at the Spy Hill celebration in 2006. We hope that the family can find peace in knowing that she is in good hands. We also understand that nothing can fill the void that her passing has left on your hearts and lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. - Posted by: Evelynne and Ken Callander (Friends) on: Jan 13, 2014

  • I write this tribute with great sadness. Delores will always be remembered and missed. She was loved by many. We always had a lot of fun together as young girls growing up. She always had a great sense of humor, never saw her without a smile on her face. My brothers always liked to tease Delores. She could take the teasing and give it right back. I always loved to be around her because was so much fun. We will think of her each and every day. She is in heaven now with those she loved and those who loved her. Larry my heart is with you @ this time, you are in my thoughts and prayers .. Love Noreen - Posted by: Noreen Ford (Cousin) on: Jan 02, 2014

  • When I first met Dolores and Larry, I was instantly struck by their absolute kind personalities-most welcoming couple I have met, and then knew why Sandra is such a special person. It is because of what beautiful, God loving parents she has. She will make heaven a more beautiful place now.... - Posted by: Jennifer () on: Dec 31, 2013
