Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDELORES (DEE) ELIZABETH WELCH Delores (Dee) Welch passed away December 29, 2013, at the age of 70, in Oakbank, MB. She passed on peacefully surrounded by her family. Born April 2, 1943 in Minneapolis, MN, daughter to Donald Stevens Welch and Ruth Muriel Welch (née Dalenberg); sister to Lance, Marjorie, Terry and Scott. On November 22, 1973, she married the love of her life, Ronald Audette. Dee had an adventurous life. She worked for the Peace Corps for a number of years in Venezuela teaching home economics in Spanish and translating before joining World Literacy where she met Ron in 1971. They married in Canada and honeymooned in Sri Lanka. While working for humanitarian organizations such as the Canadian International Development Agency and late CARE Canada, they traveled the world together, living in Pakistan, Tanzania, Ghana and Bangladesh and visiting many wonderful places. They called Ottawa their home and returned to Canada often to visit friends and family, and to build their own family. After Ron passed away, she stayed in Ottawa and worked for the World Federalists of Canada for a time. Eventually, her health started failing and she moved to Winnipeg to be with family. She had a condo in Transcona for a number of years before moving into Kin Place in Oakbank to be near the love and care of family. Survivors include daughter, Rebecca Audette (John); son, Joshua Audette (Terra); brother Scott Welch (Charlotte); grandchildren, Kyle Henderson, Talia and Gwendolyn Audette; sisters-in-law, Susanne Johannesson and Sharon Welch; niece Kristjana (Brad); great-nephew Kolby Kosheluk, and great-niece Kayllin Kosheluk. She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald, her father Donald, her mother Ruth, her brothers Lance, and Terry, and sister Margie. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Seasons Funeral Home, 576 Balsam Crescent, Oakbank, MB. Family interment to follow at a later date. Memorial contributions are welcome at Winnipeg Humane Society, Kin Place, Canadian Diabetes Association and CARE Canada. Thanks to the nurses and staff at Kin Place for their compassion, care and comfort; to Helen Shore for her friendship and Lucille Chay for her wonderful support. We have many very fond memories of Dee, especially those George cherishes of family times on the farm and at the Welch home in Columbia Heights, MN. Dee visited George's classroom to share her Peace Corps experiences from Venezuela. She continued to inspire through her work, her positive outlook, and also her courageous acceptance of declining health. She will be missed by many. - Posted by: George & Marianne Nold (Cousins) on: Jan 02, 2014
