Irv and Gail lived next door for over 20 years and became like family. I remember Irv always having a smile on his face that was quite infectious. I think that was because Gail made him so happy. I never ever saw him with a frown. He always had a way of making you feel at home and cared about. I feel privileged to have had him in my life and I will miss him dearly. - Posted by: Christine Bain (Friend) on: Apr 25, 2014

Upon our return from being out of country, we were deeply saddened to hear the news of Irv's passing. I met Irv in 1979 when he was hired as a consultant for GB Graphics. I was so impressed with his knowledge and solid practice in business, that I hired him as Comptroller and General Manager of GB in 1984. Irv added a much needed stability. Over the years, until the sale of GB, Irv and I shared many personal accomplishments, including achieving our private pilot's license, teaching Val & I sailing and adding the "AFTICA" to our collection of toys. Travelling around the world together both for business and pleasure, we were known to enjoy the odd rum & coke. Our initial business relationship evolved into a dear friendship where we shared many stories and experienced many calamities. I could always count on Irv! Although we were born different years we retired together in 2001 when GB Graphics was sold. We will miss you Irv. Our deepest sympathy to you Gail and the families. B.J. & Ilija will always remember him as Uncle Irv! - Posted by: Blago, Val, Blago Jr. & Ilija (Dear Friend) on: Jan 12, 2014

Irv was the key ingredient in making VSC a success. Fifteen years of age difference yet he seemed younger than us. We all say a Gentle Man and that's what he was, gentle with a lot of energy. - Posted by: Jim and Lynn Baker (Partner and Friend) on: Jan 11, 2014

We've been friends with Gail since childhood and with Gail and Irv as a couple well over 30 years. We've travelled much of the world together and had many adventures. Irv was a "gentle" man. He was kind, generous, fun, and one of the nicest people you could have the privilege of knowing. We will all miss him terribly and our love goes out to Gail, Chris, Lori, Cam, Michael, Brian, Nancy and Bruce. - Posted by: Gerry and Barbara Switzer (Friends and fellow travellers) on: Jan 08, 2014

I met Irv in 1967 when I first came to Winnipeg. Our professional relationship turned into a personal friendship almost immediately and that friendship has spanned more than 4 decades. Irv was a true "gentle man" in every sense of the word. Kind, generous and caring and always thinking of others. We have so many memories of times spent together. Many years of sharing a little cabin at Northern Harbour and sailing the "Joint Venture" with our families on beautiful Lake of the Woods and later sailing on the "Fantasair" with his first mate Gail at the helm; hors d'oeuvres and drinks in a quiet little bay; sing-a-longs till the wee hours of the morning with friends in the cabin - truly memorable times. Too many to mention. We can't believe he's gone. We will miss him terribly. Our deepest sympathies to Gail and families. - Posted by: Marvin and Sandra Warawa (Friends) on: Jan 06, 2014

Irv was a favorite uncle. Water skiing at Falcon Lake, sailing at Northern Harbour and family celebrations which included him playing his guitar are just a few of the good times I remember. He was always very generous with his time and supportive of my business interest. He will be missed by all who knew him. My prayers and thoughts are with his family during this time of reflection and mourning. - Posted by: Warren Earl (Nephew) on: Jan 06, 2014

I am so very sorry to hear about Irv's passing. Although it has been many years since we have connected, Irv and Gail were a big part of my life for many years. Weekends at the cabin, sailing, made my summers. The great conversations, long nightly dinners, and the the fun of friends spending time together are part of my fondest memories. We laughed so hard so many times (Remember returning to dock, Gail, and folding the sails...?) The storm we got caught in ....and I was sure we were going down, while Irv calmly(always calm) sailed us safely home.... So many memories of dinner parties at my place and yours...the pool parties etc. Irv was the nicest, most even tempered, sensible man I have ever met. I truly mourn his passing. I am so sorry for your loss and you are in my prayers....I will always remember Irv at the wheel of the sailboat looking into the distance...sail on my friend sail on!! - Posted by: MAUREEN M.
