Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWINNIFRED ETHEL SYRETT (nee HILL) After a long and full life, Winnifred Syrett passed away December 23, 2013 at the age of 97 years. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Harold in 2002, and is survived by her children Janice, Stuart, Hilary, Chris, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mom was born in London, Ontario on September 4, 1916. She had many fond memories of growing up and working in London that she enjoyed sharing with family and friends. It is here her love of music and singing developed and she spent many hours taking voice lessons, singing in choirs and at weddings. Dad met mom while she was working at Wilmont Jewelry in London. They married in 1944, subsequently raising four children while moving around Canada as well as to England and back depending on dad's RCAF posting. In 1965 the family moved for the last time and settled on the farm north of Argyle. Here mom's favourite times were spent working in her flower garden, watching the birds visiting the feeders scattered around the yard and spending time with her grandchildren. In her later years mom loved reading, playing scrabble and going out for lunch and tea with family and friends. Mom is going to be missed by her family and her three dear friends Wendy Singh, Nellie Slater and Paddye Harper who enriched her life so much. She wished for no memorial or burial service and cremation has taken place. A family gathering to celebrate her life will take place at a later date.
