SHIRLEY ELAINE HOBSON September 25, 1933 - December 27, 2013 Peacefully on December 27, 2013 at the Grace Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, Mom left our world and took her place with the angels, reunited once again with Dad. She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Olive Beales, a sister, Ethna Taylor a brother, Leonard Beales and her husband of 54 years Bill. She has left behind a sister, Dorothy, as well as her own family, Denise, Robert (Heather and grandchildren Cole and Chelsea), Patricia (Allan) and Michele (Peter and grandchildren Kieran and Spencer). Mom was born and raised in Winnipeg. She enjoyed Irish dancing and taking the train to Grand Beach on Sundays. She met Bill and they wed in 1954. Mom worked for Great West Life until her first child came along and she became a full time Mom. Once her last child reached school age, she worked at Sears Polo Park until retirement. She enjoyed the summers at the lake, reading a book, playing a spirited game of Chinese Checkers or going for walks with her lifelong friend Nona. She also liked the Casino trips that she and Dad took with their friends. She was able get to Toronto in recent years to spend quality time with Dorothy. Mom had a strong Christian faith and served on many committees at the Mount Royal Christian Centre for over 40 years. Most Sundays found her sitting in the back pew or "her seat" as she called it. When her grandchildren came along, she would try to be there for football, baseball, hockey, soccer, concerts or plays. The family expresses their thanks to the staff at Grace Hospital for their care and compassion they gave to Mom during her stay with them. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is planned for Friday, January 10, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mount Royal Christian Centre, 99 Turner Ave., Winnipeg. Interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of one's choice or the Mount Royal Christian Centre. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com
