JOANNE RUTH BENNETT After a brave battle with cancer Joanne passed away peacefully with family and friends at her side at the Riverview Health Centre. Joanne is survived by her husband Peter Vander Linden, children Tyler and Adam, and her brothers Lynn and Les Bennett. She is predeceased by her parents Howard and Marj Bennett. Joanne was born January 31, 1961 in Carman, Manitoba. Joanne later attended Red River College Business Administration and upon completion she moved to Alberta to work for the Alberta Treasury branch where she met her husband Peter. They were married in Carman on June 9, 1990, and their first son Tyler was born in 1992. Peter and Joanne, along with Tyler, moved to Winnipeg in 1994. Together they went into business and purchased National Battery that later became Prairie Battery and shortly after their second son Adam was born in 1995. Joanne lived for her boys. She was always there for the basketball, hockey, and soccer games. Joanne always spoke highly of both her children. Joanne loved to travel and accompanied Peter on many business trips, most often to warm destinations. As a family they spent many wonderful days at her favourite place, Moose Lake, where the family cottage is located. Joanne will be forever in our hearts and will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Leylek and his team at CancerCare Manitoba along with the palliative staff of the Riverview Health Centre for their compassion and care. A service in her memory will be held Friday, January 10 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Church in Carman. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to CancerCare Manitoba or the Palliative Care ward at Riverview Health Centre.
