HELEN SYROWAY (nee HUMENY) With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Helen Syroway, aged 93, on January 8, 2014 at Holy Family Home very soon after husband of 73 years, Mike, passed away December 16, 2013. Loving mother of daughter Doreen (Wayne) Buzahora, devoted grandmother of Marnie (Ryan) Sullivan, Brent (Beth) Buzahora; loving great-grandmother of Nathan and Rowan Sullivan; Brodin and Tanner Buzahora. Fondly remembered by sisters-in-law Tina Jackson, Jean Pomarenski, Pauline Syrowy and brother-in-law Peter Syrowy, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mom was predeceased by husband Mike, parents Peter and Nastia, brothers Nick, Dmytro and wife Eileen, sister Teenie and husband Eddie, four brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law. Born 1920 in Fraserwood, she married Mike Syroway in 1940 and lived there until moving to Winnipeg in 1960. Mom worked hard on their small farm, was a very loving person, caring, quiet and was especially devoted to her family. She was a fantastic cook and always delighted in visits from her grandchildren and later great-grandchildren. She loved playing bingo at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church for over 36 years. We are grateful to Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate, doctors, all nurses, health care aides, social workers, Ladies Auxiliary and all other wonderful staff at Holy Family Home for the compassion and care given to Mom over the past two years. Special thank you to Sr. Charlene, Dr. Wilson, Dr. Andrea Babick and Donna Bryck. Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 17, 2014 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Winnipeg at 11:00 a.m. with Father Isidore Dziadyk officiating. Interment at Fraserwood Community Cemetery. Floral tributes gratefully declined.
