BARRIE JONES Barrie Jones, 77, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2014 at Seven Oaks Hospital. Barrie was born in Winnipeg on February 29, 1936 and was married to the late Betty Jane Jones. He is survived by his sister Carol Keith of Kingston, Ontario, and his three children, Lorna Martin of Winnipeg, Brian Jones of Killingworth, Connecticut, and Matthew Oliver of Edmonton, Alberta. He is also survived by five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his beloved cat, Scooter. During his long career, Barrie founded and managed several small businesses in the auto industry, radio broadcasting, office furniture, and computer software. His earlier interest in all things automotive including car racing was later replaced with a passion for sailing and building model ships. He was the founder of the Winnipeg Commerce Club and a member of Keystone Lodge number 185 and of the Lodge of Renewal in Grand Forks. Services will be held 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 15 at the Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave. (across from Brookside Cemetery).
