Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELAINE STELMASCHUK February 18, 1933 - January 12, 2014 With broken hearts we announce the tragic passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on January 12, 2014 at the age of 80. She passed away along with one of her best friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Ralph and his wife Violet, her husband Mike, and her son Michael. Left behind to mourn her loss are her children Ron (Sharon), Irene (Irv), Debbie (Perry), Shirley (Richard), Sharon (Walter); her grandchildren Scott, Katie, Blake, Brendan, Kori, Meriah, Jessica, Keith (Tanya), Amie, Travis, Eric, and her great-grandchildren Nathan, Sheldon and Meagan. Also left to mourn her passing is her sister Adele (Bill), and nieces and nephews. She married Mike in September 1953 and after a short stint in Winnipeg they moved to Cooks Creek. There she resided for over 50 years. This was the final home where they raised their six kids. She worked extremely hard alongside her husband maintaining the farm while always being attentive to the needs of everyone around her. After needing to downsize, she spent her last few years at Concordia Village. This was where she was able to enjoy a more leisurely lifestyle that included dancing, bingo and an assortment of daily activities with her new group of friends. Her loyalty and devotion to her church was always given wholeheartedly right to the very end. She was a special person who touched so many lives and will be missed by all because of her happy personality, easy going smile and heart of gold. We take comfort in knowing that she will be reunited with her husband and son. We invite all family and friends to help celebrate Elaine's life with Divine Liturgy on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Cooks Creek with Father Taras Kowch officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery with a lunch to follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Immaculate Conception Church, her second family. Ron, Sharon, Scott, Katie, and Blake. Our prayers are with you at this difficult time. So shocked to hear about Elaine. She was always smiling, cheerful and always had to chat. I have and will miss passing by the house and admiring her ever abundant and beautiful gardens. When our kids were little they referred to her as "the other Baba's garden" when we drove by. I could never measure up. God bless you all and find some comfort in knowing that the gardens in heaven will be well looked after.
