RUTH MARION FRITH (nee MCDONALD) Peacefully, in her 85th year, Ruth Marion Frith (nee McDonald), passed away on January 11, 2014 at the Boundary Trails Health Centre. Ruth was predeceased by her parents; first husband Harvey Frith; second husband Earl Hunter, and her four sisters: Jean, Anne, Flora and Kathleen. She is survived by her nephews and nieces of the McIntosh, Hunter, Stacey, Wagner and Frith families; Earl's children and their families. Ruth was born on September 10, 1928 in Manitou, MB. She was the youngest of five daughters born to James Fraser McDonald and Eliza Mary Smith. Ruth grew up in LaRiviere where she received her schooling. She enjoyed living near the ski hills and talked about the weekend trains coming in filled with city skiers. As a young woman, Ruth helped clean the LaRiviere United Church, worked in Fargey's store and the Post Office. Ruth became a United Church member in 1943 and was an organist for the United Churches of LaRiviere and later in Winnipeg. She was also a leader for the C.G.I.T. Ruth married Harvey Frith (1923 to 1992) on May 24, 1950. They moved to Winnipeg where Ruth worked for North Star Oil and later for Air Canada. Ruth and Harvey spent many winters holidaying in the Barbados and Ruth still corresponded with the friends they met there. Other destinations include Scotland and Texas, where her sisters joined them. Ruth and Harvey retired to Manitou in 1980. Ruth married Earl Hunter (1924 to 2014) in 2003. They lived in Morden, MB and enjoyed dancing, traveling to Australia, Alaska, and going to see World Curling games in Glasgow, Scotland and Victoria, BC. She was an active member of Morden St. Paul's United Church. Ruth enjoyed the gatherings with her new extended family and all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a family, we loved having Aunt Ruth with us and we will miss her greatly. A special thank you to Dr. O. Persson and the caring and compassionate staff at Boundary Trails Health Centre. Thank you also to Cindy Hunter. Memorial services will be held at St. Paul's United Church in Morden on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Cathie Waldie officiating. Private interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery, LaRiviere. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth's memory may be made to Pembina Valley Humane Society, 462 Jefferson St., Morden, MB R6M 0C3 or to a charity of one's choice.
