JOHN ARTHUR WHITE October 20, 1937 - January 13, 2014 John died peacefully in his sleep with his family at his side at the age of 76 after a brief fight with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents James and Caroline, and brother Jim. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Gloria, of 57 years, as well as his two daughters, Carol Thompson, and Joanne White (Grant Waschuk); and his five grandchildren, Jennifer, Kyle, Brittany, Tiffany and Leah. In his younger years John was very involved in scouting where he developed his love for fishing which he shared with his family. As an adult he continued on with the scouting program and spent many years as a Scout leader out of St. Thomas Church. Gloria and John raised their daughters in Weston close to family and friends. In 1979 they purchased property on Netley Creek. John worked hard to remodel and make it a retirement home which they moved to in 1998. John also enjoyed building things in his workshop. He drove and built remote control boats. He loved photography and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed travelling in their 5th wheel and later they travelled on bus trips. John's love of animals and the outdoors was known to all who knew him. John was a loving husband, father, papa and friend. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staff on the Medical Ward at Selkirk General Hospital, as well as the wonderful staff at CancerCare Manitoba and Cancer Navigation Services who were all very helpful during this difficult time.
